An applicator compartment must accommodate more than the tool’s outline. A brush or sponge applicator needs a practical removal path, a defined position beside the pans and sufficient space below the closed lid. Review those functions with the intended tool and filled compact.

Check the complete removal movement
Place the actual applicator in its intended orientation. Check whether fingers can reach a suitable grip area and lift the tool without pressing into the powder. A recess that fits the handle can still make removal awkward when the surrounding pans or lid restrict access.
Observe insertion as well as removal. The tool should return to a recognizable position without forcing its head into a corner. If a retention feature is provided, evaluate its engagement and release on the finished parts. Agree the retention requirement rather than assuming every tool bay needs a tight friction fit.
Distinguish separation from sealing
A divider can keep an applicator from touching the powder pans while leaving an open path for loose particles. Record the divider’s intended function. Do not describe a raised rib as a powder-tight seal without evidence from the actual closed assembly.
Use the intended pressed powder and a consistent handling routine to observe deposits in the bay, on the handle and on the applicator head. Identify whether contact occurs during removal, replacement or closed-pack movement. A clean result in one trial supports that configuration under those conditions; it does not establish that powder can never migrate.
Check the tool’s height below the lid
Review the tallest part of the applicator in its seated orientation, including bristles or a compressible sponge head. Compare that envelope with the actual inner lid, mirror and other protruding features. The tool bay and pan area may have different heights, so their dimensions should not simply be added as one vertical stack.
Close representative assemblies to their designed stop and check for unintended contact, displaced tools or bent bristles. Do not use extra closing force to conceal interference. Compare appropriate dimensional limits and finished samples, including the chosen mirror configuration.
Record the tool version, compartment design, filled configuration and acceptance criteria together. Sambound provides empty eyeshadow packaging references at sambound.com; these references do not establish that an untested tool and compact combination is ready for release.
