Any number of companies can quote a set built on a named engine, because the engine can be bought. What distinguishes one offer from another is the assembly, testing and support wrapped around it, and those are verifiable before an order in ways the engine brand alone is not. This is a procurement checklist rather than a product description, applied to MPMC POWERTECH CORP., established in 2008 and headquartered in Shanghai Pudong, which lists Scania among the engine platforms on its containerised range.

Reading a Test Report Rather Than an Accreditation
A CNAS-accredited testing centre is a recognition of the facility. It is not a statement that every delivered unit carries an individual third-party certificate, and conflating the two is a common source of misplaced confidence.
The document with commercial weight is the factory acceptance test report for the serial number being shipped, together with the ISO 8528-5 performance class the set was tested against. Requesting a sample report at enquiry stage shows what will actually accompany the delivery, and agreeing the witnessed scope at order stage prevents a discussion once the unit is built.
Verifying the Scania Configuration Offered
MPMC lists Scania across single-engine containerised units from 800 to 3,750 kVA, twin-engine units from 1,250 to 3,000 kVA and a four-engine configuration at 1,600 kVA, with Stamford or Leroy-Somer alternators, and a Scania S5 engine available at 250 kVA within the GB hybrid station range.
Availability varies by rating and region, so the specific engine model, alternator pairing and rating basis should be confirmed in the technical offer rather than inferred from the range. Where the required rating sits between frame sizes, asking whether an equivalent platform is available at the same enclosure and control specification keeps the comparison on one variable.

Checking Consistency Across a Repeat Order
For a project delivered in phases, what matters is not the first unit but whether the fifth matches it. Three contractual measures cover most of that: a named parts list with a written duty to notify any component change, a first-article approval repeated whenever the configuration moves, and a fixed test report template.
MPMC states that lead times for both standard and customised products are confirmed per order against configuration and current production scheduling, so recording acceptable substitution criteria in the contract keeps later phases straightforward to release while preserving spares interchangeability across the group.
Verifying the Support Route
MPMC’s published after-sales model routes engine and alternator support through those manufacturers’ global service networks, with its own obligation covering manufacturing quality and parts replacement during the warranty period of 1 year or 1,000 operating hours for the diesel genset series.
Two things follow. The engine brand’s authorised network in the destination country determines the response a buyer receives, so the nearest centre and its response time should be identified before award. And because labour, travel and airfreight are normally excluded unless agreed, those terms belong in the commercial conversation rather than being discovered at the first service visit.
Checking Delivered Evidence at Comparable Duty
MPMC lists a 6 MW rental green mobile power project in China and Hong Kong using Scania engines with Stamford alternators in 300, 400 and 500 kW units, categorised as biofuel units. Across the wider range, published deliveries include 33.5 MW of rental construction power in Saudi Arabia, a 21.6 MW Indonesian island power station and data centre projects at 3 MW, 12 MW and 36 MW.
References establish the class and duty of work delivered rather than performance on a different site. Where a project justifies it, speaking to an operator at comparable duty tells a buyer more about support behaviour than any document does.
Verifying What the Rating Actually Means
A rating is only meaningful once the basis is stated. Standby, prime and continuous permit different annual hours and load factors, and the same physical set carries a different figure under each. MPMC lists ISO 8528-5:2018, GB/T 2820.5-2009 and ISO 3046 among applicable standards.
Two further items belong in the same clarification. The derated output at the site’s ambient and altitude differs from the nameplate figure, sometimes substantially, and the transient performance class is a separate measurement from the published steady-state parameters. Asking for both in writing turns a quoted rating into something the project can design against.
Verification Checklist
• Confirm whether assembly and load testing are performed in the manufacturer’s own facility.
• Request a sample factory acceptance test report and confirm the load steps covered.
• Ask for the ISO 8528-5 performance class the offered configuration is tested against.
• Confirm the specific engine model, alternator pairing and rating basis in the technical offer.
• Secure a named parts list with a written change-notification duty for phased orders.
• Agree first-article approval and a fixed test report template.
• Confirm which certificates apply per model and destination, and who holds each registration.
• Identify the nearest authorised service centre and confirm what the warranty excludes.
